PETER UEBERROTH TO BE KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT ANNUAL LOTT TROPHY BANQUET

NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. – Peter Ueberroth, one of the most distinguished figures in American sports over the past 25 years, will be the keynote speaker at the 6th annual Lott Trophy Banquet Dec. 13.
Ueberroth served as the chairman of the Los Angeles Olympic Committee that ran the successful 1984 Olympic Games. He was named Time Magazine’s Man of the Year.
Ueberroth then was elected commissioner of Major League baseball and was in that position for five years. During that span, baseball enjoyed huge growth and franchises recognized record profits.
“Peter Ueberroth follows an impressive list of keynote speakers we have been fortunate to have over the years,” said John Hamilton, Chairman of the Pacific Club’s IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of The Lott Trophy. “Mr. Ueberroth is highly respected in the sports world and will, I’m sure, have a powerful and positive message for our finalists and our audience.”
Previous keynote speakers at the Lott Banquet have been Bill Walsh, John Robinson, Jack Kemp, Frank Gifford, Merlin Olsen and Keith Jackson.
The Banquet, which honors the four finalists for the Lott Trophy and announces the winner, will be held at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach.
Sponsored by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation in Newport Beach, the award is given to the player who exhibits the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

In five years, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation has donated more than $650,000 to various charities, including $25,000 to each of the winners’ universities.
Voters for the award include selected members of the national media, previous finalists, the Board of Directors of the IMPACT Foundation, the IMPACT Foundation Board of Advisors comprised of retired NFL players and the Legends Coaches, a distinguished group of former college head coaches.
Named after Pro Football Hall of Fame member, Ronnie Lott, The Lott Trophy is awarded to college football’s Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. Founded in 2004 by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, The Lott Trophy is the first and only college football award to equally recognize athletic performance and the personal character attributes of the player. The Lott Trophy is given to the player who exhibits the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
