LOTT TROPHY ADDS FOUR PLAYERS TO WATCH LIST
NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. – Four standout defensive players have been added to the Watch List for the 2009 Lott Trophy, it was announced by the Pacific Club’s IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the award.
Sam Acho of Texas, Trevard Lindley of Kentucky, Brian Price of UCLA and Kyle Wilson of Boise State have been nominated for the award along with 40 other players who were announced earlier this year.
Acho is a 6-3, 260-pound junior defensive end from Dallas. He leads the nation in fumbles recovered with four and has been on the Texas Athletic Director’s Honor Roll four straight times. This past summer he went on a medical mission to Nigeria with his father and brother.
Lindley is a 6-0, 179-pound senior defensive back from Hiram, Ga. who has recorded 171 tackles and 10 interceptions during his Wildcat career. He has started 43 consecutive games and has already received a degree from Kentucky in art studio.
Price is a 6-2, 300-pound junior defensive tackle from Los Angeles, who anchors the Bruins’ defensive line. He has 7 tackles for losses and 2 sacks to date this season.
Wilson is a 5-10, 186-pound senior cornerback from Piscataway, New Jersey. He’s the captain of the Bronco defense, was an All-WAC selection last season and is an honor student, posting a 4.0 GPA in the spring. Wilson is on track to graduate in December.
Named after Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, the Lott Trophy is awarded to college football’s Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. Now in its sixth year, the Lott Trophy is the first college football award to equally recognize athletic performance and the personal character attributes of the player.
Sponsored by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation in Newport Beach, the award is given to the player who exhibits the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

In five years, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation has donated more than $650,000 to various charities, including $25,000 to each of the winners’ universities.
Voters for the award include selected members of the national media, previous finalists, the Board of Directors of the IMPACT Foundation, the IMPACT Foundation Board of Advisors comprised of retired NFL players and the Legends Coaches, a distinguished group of former college head coaches.
